Me and San Jordi

Finally.... my first steps out of India for an onsite assignment.
And that too in land of Adios and Amigos!!!!

Wow! What a countryside.... !!! And what traffic sense.... a heaven for me coming from the hell called "The death traps of Bangalore"

The weekend was awesome!

Yesterday was a festival here... festival of roses and books. The festival of "san jordi" (St.George).
Guys give girls red roses and the girls give the guys books in return.
All the books stalls were open yesterday and everywhere there were roses and books stalls. All the girls were out in their best clothes.. from kids to old toothless grannys :-)))
And ofcourse as romance was in the air, there was also a lot of show of love happening all over the place..... :-)

There were thousands and thousands of people on the streets of Barcelona city yesterday afternoon celebrating San Jordi. There was a group of youth playing drums and coming from a different part of the city to the Rambla street and people were slowing swaying to the music and following them. I too joined the procession for some distance. The music which they belted out was amazing and anybody and everybody was dancing to the music. It was fun.

Had been on a Barcelona tour yesterday. Started at around 10:00 AM from a place called Placa de Catalunya (the main tourist centre of Barcelona). Went around the city in a Bus for about 2 1/2 hours. It was cloudy and chilling. And we were on the roof of the bus facing the chilly wind. But I guess that's the price u got to pay if you have to take full advantage of a rooftop seat...

The tour was just an indexing service for me... ;-)
Have identified quite a few places to visit in the course of the next few weekends....
The Familia towers, The National Palace, Barcelona Olympic stadium (this is just awesome!!!), The FC Barcelona club and stadium, The Olympic village, The aquarium, IMAX (3D movies), The Monastery of Parables, The Santa Maria del Mar cathedral, etc etc.... soooo much to see....
